Dzongri is situated at an altitude of about 4020 M, in west Sikkim. It offers the trekker a most fascinating close-up view of Kanchenjunga and Mt. Pandim. To the west rises the long outline of the Kyangla ridge. Dzongri is trekker’s paradise.
The Ongathang Rivers Flow through Dzongri. It offers breath taking view of Pandim, Kokthang, Rathong, Kabru, SimvoKhangchendzonga Peaks. The best time to venture on this route is april to june and september to November. The walk to Dzongri from Yuksom begins with the track skirting meadows and meandering past huts. It is approximately 26 km long from Yuksom to Dzongri and it is 9 days trek.
DAY 1 : NJP Railway Station/Bagdogra Airport to Yuksom 7 to 6 hours, 152 kilometres (1,780 metres).
DAY 2 : Yuksom To Sachen 3 to 4 hours, 8 kilometres (2,300 metres).
DAY 3 : Sachen to Tshoka 4 to 5 hours, 8 kilometres (30,40 metres)
DAY 4 : Tshoka To Dzongri 5 to 6 hours, 10 kilometres (4,050 metres)
DAY 6: Dzongri Rest
DAY 7 : Dzongri To Tshoka (Ascend down through same route)
DAY 8 : Tshoka To Yuksom (Ascend down through same trail)
DAY 9 : Yuksom to NJP railway station/ Bagdogra airport or other destinations.
